Olympic Gold Medallist, Geraint Thomas MBE has today been announced as an ambassador for the Cycle Show 2011.
The London 2012 Hopeful is set to open the trade day as it opens its doors to thousands of cycle trade and media later this year. The 25 year old cyclist will be available for interviews on the day to help the Cycle Show 2011 celebrate its 10thBirthday, less than one year away from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
He commented: “The Cycle Show is a key event in the UK’s cycling calendar, and this year looks set to be the best one yet - I can’t wait to be a part of it as it moves to a brand new location at the NEC. Now is a really exciting time for cycling - with the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games just around the corner, I would encourage trade, media and the public to book their places now to get an exclusive look at new and upcoming trends in cycling and to check out the latest product ranges for 2012”.
Once again, there will be a whole day dedicated to the cycling trade and media, on Thursday 29 September. The show will open to the public between 30 September and 2 October.Over 500 of the world’s top cycling brands will showcase their products at the NEC in Birmingham and give you a rare chance to network with colleagues from the cycle trade, the bike press and leading campaign groups.
Andrew Brabazon, Event Director for the Cycle Show commented: “Whether this will be your first time attending the Cycle Show or your 10thvisit, there will be something for everyone at this year’s event. It’s really exciting to have Geraint on board this year – not only will Geraint be making an appearance on the trade day, we also have lots planned in the build up to the show, including ask the expert Q&A sessions on our social media sites and some fantastic money-can’t-buy prizes for the public.
“Registration for the trade day is complimentary and will offer the opportunity to visithundreds of stands from major bike companies, niche and specialist brands, with everything from cycle accessories to cycling holidays. The Cycle Show is a highly effective way to see all the new bike and product ranges for the year ahead all under one roof, whilst meeting all your key suppliers, place orders, research trends and find out what's new in the market.”Moving to its new NEC location to accommodate the ever growing number of exhibitors and visitors, this year’s show will feature two outdoor demo tracks for those wanting to test the bikes on display; a 1km mountain bike trail, presented by Dare 2b, and a 600m road cycling track.
Last year saw over 22,000 visitors enjoy the interactive visitor features; test new bikes and be wowed by the BMX stunt riders.
